he base molded with a three-character apocryphal Kangxi mark. It reads 康熙年, or "Kangxi reign" (until 1722), although we have been unable to determine the exact age.
Used as gift to newlyweds, to symbolize good birth. The Chinese word 生 in 花生（peanuts) is homophonic with ‘birth."
